Reading and Learning
Being not satisfied with my current design for this site, I am doing some research and learning. I purchased Lisa Sabin-Wilson’s “BuddyPress for Dummies.” I have her “WordPress for Dummies” and while I had figured out most of WordPress by that time, I still found it to be a great resource. It is also a nice book to let newbies borrow… So figured her book would be a great starter for BuddyPress.
I haven’t touched it yet since I am reading “Smashing WordPress – Beyond the Blog” by Thord Daniel Hedengren. What I like about this book is that his thrust is to help people get their WordPress sites beyond the basic WordPress design and make the site their own as much as possible. This includes some modifications on the Admin Dashboard and even the log in screen.
Like most geeks, I have been jumping chapters to see what I can do immediately to improve some of my others sites. I not moving towards working up this site as I move to the more in depth parts of the book. Good read so far. The book focuses on ver 2.8 so it isn’t too far out of date.
I will add this blog to my favorites, it is great.
