Developing a Non-Profit Site: Step Five
The next, long awaited step is to install WordPress on your site. The process is fairly straight forward for most sites; especially if you have a very pro-WordPress website service. They will walk you through the process.
However, if you don’t have a very pro-WordPress website provider, the process is relatively easy. You first need to create an SQL database, download WordPress, and then install it onto your website. Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, I recommend following the direction provided by WordPress at http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress .
My provider doesn’t provide a lot of support for WordPress, but I did find a excellent of directions on how to configure WordPress by do a search on the name of my provider and WordPress installation. So if the directions provided by WordPress are not getting the job done, try this option.
I like FileZilla as my FTP solution. I find it very intuitive once you get past the initial setup for your website provider. So I highly recommend if you need to FTP WordPress to your site.
